Uganda has conveyed its condolences and solidarity to the Government and people of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela following the devastating earthquake that struck the South American nation.
Acting Minister for Foreign Affairs Harunah Kasolo on Wednesday visited the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Kampala, where he signed the Book of Condolences in honour of those who lost their lives in the disaster.
"This morning, I visited the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Uganda to sign the Book of Condolences in honour of the victims of the devastating earthquake that struck Venezuela," Kasolo said.
Speaking on behalf of the Government and the people of Uganda, Kasolo conveyed the country's sympathy and solidarity with Venezuela during the difficult period.
"On behalf of the Government and the people of the Republic of Uganda, I conveyed our profound condolences and heartfelt solidarity with the Government and people of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela," he said.
Kasolo also expressed Uganda's support for families who lost loved ones and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.
"We stand with the families who lost their loved ones, wish a swift recovery to the injured, and reaffirm Uganda's support and friendship as Venezuela recovers from this tragic disaster," he added.
Uganda and Venezuela maintain diplomatic relations, and the gesture underscores Kampala's commitment to standing with partner nations during times of tragedy and humanitarian crisis.
Officials at the Venezuelan Embassy in Kampala received Uganda's message of condolence and expressed appreciation for the country's support and solidarity.
